Child Safe Blinds

When it comes to blinds, we have an extensive range of designs, finishes and styles to choose from. We also take the issue of child safety very seriously and are committed to keeping our blinds child-safe for your peace of mind. 

Blinds are not inherently dangerous to children, however, we know that accidents can happen, and we extend our sympathies to those families who have experienced such incidents. It is our aim to make sure these accidents never happen again.

Child Safety At Home

When your blinds are safely installed in your home, it’s a good idea to keep all cords, chains, and tapes out of the reach of children, either with a hook on the wall or with your own child safety device.

It’s also worth checking that your cords are not tied together and remain at least 1.5 metres up from the ground and secured to the wall.

Excellent Child Safe Blinds

There are a number of blinds which are suitable to use around children and come with child safety devices.

Venetian blinds can come with a wand to twist instead of a chain/cord system, which gets rid of the need to hide away the cords. You can also get cordless roller blinds, which makes them ideal for nurseries or your child’s bedroom.

Motorised blinds are another great idea to avoid any manual operation of blinds, as they can be used with a remote control. With the chains and cords removed, there’s less to worry about.

At Flair Blinds, we follow European Standards law that requires all blinds to be safe by design or supplied with the necessary child safety devices. Under these regulations, this means that you can be assured our blinds are child safe and easy to use.

Our safety measures include ensuring safety devices are supplied to enable customers to secure a blind’s cords to a wall. There is also a maximum cord and chain length and minimum fitting heights. Finally, when a loop is present in a blind, it is designed to break under pressure to minimise danger.
